My dentist is selling!

I remember walking through the doors of my Nottingham dentists practice for the first time about ten years ago. I was filled with fear at what to expect, and this is now called Dental Phobia, although the sheer fear of dentistry has existed for centuries dating back to the use of alcohol and pliers for tooth extraction.

It was a success, and since then, I’ve had veneers too that have helped me feel better about my smile.

Yesterday, I received a notification in the mail about dental practice, and it was my dentist’s practice! Naturally, I phoned up to check, and “yes”, the practice is being sold. So, I asked why and the receptionist said that the senior owner was retiring. After the call, I felt a sudden grip of that old phobia again.

Who would be my new dentist and what he or she be like? Then it occurred to me that I had a choice in the matter and that perhaps I could still remain a patient of my existing dentist who is not the one retiring. I felt more at ease. Discussing your fears with your dental practice when you learn that they are selling is important for your state of mind and your continued dental treatment.
